In the year 2016 there are only a select few Amazon tribes which have been left to enjoy their lands and the traditional way of life that they have known for thousands of years. The Kayapo people are one of these tribes and they have lived uninterrupted over hundreds of generations up until thirty years ago.
Mining, Agriculture, Forestry and infrastructure development are making their way into the Kayapo lands and with very little in the way of government intervention. As the Kayapo have little funds to work with in order to save their land and appropriately protect it from companies which are clear cutting and developing the rainforest, they need your help.
The Amazon rainforest is one of the largest natural forests in the entire world and it's unfortunately being decimated every year by companies that are simply interested in stripping it for its resources. Unbelievably there are over 200 acres of rainforest which are being burned every day at this point and with over 150 acres being lost at every minute to destruction, burning and clearcutting for industry, there are only a few protected segments left.
The Kayapo have been living harmoniously with the forest since their people originally settled there. With a full 20% of the Amazon rainforest destroyed by 2012, it's only a matter of time before these companies continue with their clearcutting right through the land that the Kayapo call their home.
Logging companies and industry in this area simply don't care about who they affect and the animals that they displace through their efforts. Development in this area could wipe out generations of culture that the Kayapo have worked hard to protect. If they are forced to leave their community they will have to abandon their way of life and learn new skills in order to survive.
This is land that belongs to these people and this is stated even under Brazilian law. The land which the Kayapo are living on is outlined under Brazilian property law but the companies clearcutting the area simply ignore this fact.
The problem is that the Kayapo can not mount a legal front against these companies and therefore cannot challenge any of the clearcutting or changes to their land until it is too late.
What is needed in order to protect these people and their way of life is legal assistance that can help with planning and urban development and keeping the surrounding capitalist society from changing their way of life. The land is there’s and the government recognizes its protection but the Kayapo need proper representation to ensure that they will remain protected. With more and more companies simply bullying these people and ripping their lands from them, the community as a whole feels absolutely helpless.
With your assistance in this crowd funding campaign you can enjoy protecting a culture of people that has existed for thousands of years as well as making sure families, women and children are not forced to vacate their home. With just a small donation you can help these people to feel safe and protected on their lands.
The Kayapo are known for many beautiful cultural traditions such as their unique art and tattoo style, their impressive glass beaded jewelry, and their wisdom dating back centuries in the Amazon on how to survive. Unfortunately these skills cannot prepare them for fighting against the people that want to take their lands.
With your assistance we can help to secure their land, keep their culture alive, make sure that families are displaced as well as protect another small part of the Amazon permanently.
Without someone to stand up to the infrastructure in this area we will see yet another ancient culture wiped off the map. These people are a treasure buried deep in the natural rain forest and they depend on the environment in order to maintain their way of life. Letting industry win will not be a simple victory over a plot of land but the decimation of an entire way of life for these people and a precursor to allow companies to continue clear cutting this precious forest.
On this crowdfunding campaign you can get started with just a small donation by buying Kayapo authentic beaded Art jewelry and continue to rise based off of your level of support.
With your support for the Kayapo people they will be forever grateful for the sacrifice you have made to help them keep their home.
By reaching our goal for the Kayapo people it will be possible to not only provide them with consistent legal help that will protect their lands but with the guarantee that their home is protected by the government. These people need an ongoing advocate and assistance with legal proceedings to ensure that they are not compromised and that the government is forced to make good on its claims to grant them their lands. Negotiating with large developers, loggers and more will require legal assistance and through the funds raised here we can ensure the Kayapo will have access to the funds they need to secure ongoing legal support.
Share this campaign with your friends and family and do what you can to help this amazing and resilient group of individuals before their home and culture is lost forever. Keep this piece of the rainforest alive for future generations!
